Katherine Keck, Owner
The Looney Veggie Cooking Company
I began cooking with my mom before I was tall enough to reach the countertops. She taught me to read a recipe and follow instructions until I had enough experience to improvise in the kitchen. This began a lifelong love of great food and cooking knowing that it brings together family and friends and creates wonderful memories. My love of cooking was further inspired by chefs aired on public television and many cookbooks in addition to trading recipes with friends. Finally, in the summer of 2011, I took my first course while on vacation from my job. This was The Main Course Certificate Program, a plant-based, organic cooking class at the Natural Cooks Studio Arts Co. (now The School of Natural Cookery) in Boulder, Colorado. The knowledgeable instructors taught me the art of intuitive cooking and reinforced the importance of whole foods. That course inspired me to start my personal chef business and to help folks find healthy alternatives to the typical American diet of fatty, sugary, over-processed foods.
In December of 2012, I graduated from the Nutrition Therapy Institute (NTI) Certified Natural Foods Personal Chef program https://ntischool.com/. I am ServSafe certified.
I became a vegetarian at age 28 for the welfare of animals and have since learned the health benefits of a vegan diet. My mission is to demonstrate the possibility of enjoying a healthy, plant-based diet without sacrificing flavor while utilizing efficient cooking techniques.
